THE STORY BEHIND THE ART

My black and white James River print features a dock under a starry sky. Since my youth, I have been fascinated by the night sky. I photographed the constellation Cassiopeia and chose to use it consistently throughout the series because, according to myth, it represents human vanity.

Whether one contemplates or disregards the universe beyond, it is there always. I have tried to convey this here by using the darkest night sky against daylight – brightened objects in the foreground.

Unmatted and unframed. Printed with pigment inks on matte paper, the image extends to the edge. It will be signed and numbered ON THE BACK with archival ink, and you will receive a certificate of authenticity.

Prices may increase as editions sell. It will ship in a rigid tube.
