THE STORY BEHIND THE ART

In my black and white Dennis, Cape Cod print, a sand fence stretches along dunes at Chapin Memorial Beach. The footprints on the slope of the dune are in focus and lead the eye to the fencing beyond. The foreground in soft focus, while a wide expanse of sky and clouds fills the top of the frame. Please see the detailed photo.

I have photographed this scene using a 720nm infrared filter on a full-spectrum-converted camera. Infrared photography allows us to see the world illuminated by light invisible to the human eye. It reflects off foliage, creating a soft, otherworldly glow. Water and sky absorb infrared light, resulting in high-contrast images with an ephemeral, dream-like quality.

I hope my black and white Dennis print allows the viewer to experience a moment of quiet and calm.

Unmatted and unframed. Printed with pigment inks on matte paper, the image extends to the edge. It will be signed and numbered ON THE BACK with archival ink, and you will receive a certificate of authenticity.
