THE STORY BEHIND THE ART

This Cape Cod crow art is among my favorites. I heard the crows before they swooped over the dunes on Great Island in Wellfleet. The image is in soft focus with a fine, deliberate grain. (see Detail).

I photographed the scene using a 720nm infrared filter on a full-spectrum-converted camera. Infrared photography allows us to see the world illuminated by light invisible to the human eye. It reflects off foliage, creating a soft, otherworldly glow, and it is absorbed by water and sky, resulting in high-contrast images with an ephemeral, dream-like quality.

Unmatted and unframed. Printed with pigment inks on matte paper, the image extends to the edge. It will be signed and numbered ON THE BACK with archival ink, and you will receive a certificate of authenticity.
