THE STORY BEHIND THE ART

I photographed this scene using a 720nm infrared filter on a full-spectrum-converted camera. Infrared photography allows us to see the world illuminated by light invisible to the human eye. It reflects off foliage, creating a soft, otherworldly glow, and it is absorbed by water and sky, resulting in high-contrast images with an ephemeral, dream-like quality.

I loved seeing this flock of crows – with some gulls mixed-in – swooping over the dunes on Great Island in Wellfleet. The image is in soft focus with a fine, deliberate grain. (see Detail).

When the above limited editions sell out, the image will no longer be printed and sold as such. The artist reserves the right to use this image for commercial purposes.
